Charity concert in favour of children with cancer

The International Young Orchestra Academy will be performing in Jena for the 16th time on Tuesday, 28 April 2026. In cooperation with the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, it invites you to a special benefit concert in the Volkshaus Jena. The concert starts at 20:00.

Under the title "Airs and Atmospheres - From the origins of the trombone to virtuoso brass sounds", 14 musicians from the Festival Brass of the International Young Orchestra Academy will present a varied programme together with the quartet from the trombone master class at the University of Music Weimar.

The artistic director is Alexander Richter. The benefit concert offers a varied selection of pieces ranging from Mendelsohn, Lully and Mozart to well-known modern works.

The concert is aimed at music lovers of all generations and also offers the opportunity to experience young international talent in a challenging and multi-faceted programme. The proceeds from the concert and targeted donations will be donated to children with cancer in Jena (Elterninitiative für krebskranke Kinder Jena e.V. and Kinderhilfestiftung e.V. Jena).

The cultural and social foundation INTERNATIONALE JUNGE ORCHESTERAKADEMIE, founded and managed by Prof Dr Ulrich S. Schubert, pursues three goals: To promote young musicians and culture, to support international understanding and to support the most vulnerable in our society, children with cancer and serious illnesses.

Tickets at special rates for employees and students

Tickets are available at the following special conditions for employees and students of Friedrich Schiller University Jena:

• 12 euros per ticket for employees
• 5 euros per ticket for students
