On 28 September 2026, the annual Special Schubert Group Seminar brought together members of the Schubert Group and HIPOLE Jena for an afternoon of exchange, discussion and networking in Jena.
The seminar opened with a welcome and introduction by Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert, who outlined the goals of this year’s meeting and addressed current developments and challenges affecting the scientific and academic environment. Particular attention was given to future perspectives, ongoing activities and the strategic development of the group.
A central part of the programme was dedicated to welcoming new members of the Schubert Group and HIPOLE Jena who have joined since September 2025. In a series of short pitches, the new colleagues introduced themselves and their research activities, providing an opportunity for the wider team to get to know the newest members.
The programme also covered important topics related to everyday research activities, including good scientific practice, laboratory and laser safety, new equipment, recently funded projects, and future plans and targets. The sessions provided a platform for sharing updates across the group and discussing upcoming scientific and organizational developments.
The seminar concluded with a discussion of future activities and challenges before the participants continued the day with a social event at Westsportplatz Jena, offering another opportunity for colleagues to connect outside the scientific programme.
The annual Special Schubert Group Seminar once again provided a valuable opportunity to bring together colleagues from the Schubert Group and HIPOLE Jena, welcome new members and exchange ideas on current developments and future directions.
