Welcome at the Faculty for Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena!

Understanding life on earth and environmental processes is our passion and mission. Our research spans from molecules to the life and fate of oceans and mountains and highlights important contemporary scientific questions, e.g. regarding health and energy. Combining chemistry, geosciences and geography may seem surprising at a first glance, but it is the synergies between natural and social sciences with economy that enables cutting edge research and high-class education at our faculty. The interdisciplinary research at the Faculty for Chemistry and Earth Sciences is documented e.g. in a large number of collaborative research projects.

The Faculty for Chemistry and Earth Sciences forms the roof for the chemical institutes, the institute for geography and the institute for geosciences at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena.

We offer a multitude of subjects to study, and currently more than 1600 students are enrolled in our faculty. General information about studying at the Faculty for Chemistry and Earth Sciences and Life in Jena can be found here.
