Thermodynamics of schafarzikite (FeSb2O4) and tripuhyite (FeSbO4)
Antimony dispersal in the environment is controlled by a few minerals, prominently by the minerals tripuhyite (FeSbO4) and schafarzikite (FeSb2O4). In this work, we determined the thermodynamic properties of these two minerals, so that their formation and occurrence in nature can be quantitatively modelled. We calculated also their properties at elevated temperatures relevant to the formation of ore deposits. Doing so, the processes of formation of antimony ores can be also better understood. We compiled and prepared a full database of all antimony minerals relevant in ore deposits in a format that is accepted by common geochemical software packages.
