Lake sediment coring in Romania

I am currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Geography – Climate and Environmental Change while working as a research assistant at the chair of Physical Geography. My research interests focus on past climate and environmental conditions, which I investigate through biomarkers preserved in lake sediments, soils and peat archives. I use different approaches of molecular paleoecology, including compound-specific hydrogen isotope analyses of n-alkanes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, fecal sterols and bile acids. Alongside my research, I am gaining my first teaching experience, for example, through my biomarker laboratory course as well as field days and excursions. I am looking forward to the many projects and research questions ahead.
