The Chair of Social Geography in Jena stands for a political social geography, which empirically and theoretically addresses current issues of societal and political change. Our aim in teaching is to develop and discuss current socio-political issues together with students in a theoretically sophisticated, creative and critically reflective way. Our socio-geographical research aims at the analysis of processes of dynamization and stabilization of and in late modern societies at different scales and from a spatial perspective.
