Prof. Dr. Alexander Hinz, W3-Heisenberg-Professor for Inorganic Molecular Chemistry

Functional molecules based on s-, p- and f-elements

News

We are looking for motivated candidates for laboratory courses and theses (BSc, MSc, PhD). If you are interested in multifaceted techniques in synthesis and characterisation under inert conditions, feel free to contact Prof. Hinz or the group members.

The Hinz group investigates reactive molecular compounds. We use sterically demanding ligands to stabilise unusual structural motifs with a wide range of elements from across the periodic table. We study reactivities, catalysis and special spectroscopic properties.

Current areas of focus are:

  • low-valent or cationic compounds of silicon, germanium, tin and lead
  • alkaline earth metal hydride complexes
  • rare earth element compounds
