Professorship for Electrochemistry

Prof. Balducci's research group focuses on the synthesis and characterization of electrolytes and active/inactive materials that are of interest for electrochemical energy storage. These include, in particular, supercapacitors and alkali metal ion accumulators. In addition to classic liquid electrolytes made from conductive salts, solvents, and additives, ionic liquids and electrolyte recycling are also on the research agenda.

  1. Juan Luis Gomez-Urbano visits India (PECFAR-fellowship)

    Juan Luis Gomez-Urbano was a guest at several Indian institutes as part of the "Paired Early Career Fellowship in Applied Research" (PECFAR). Together with Dr. Binson Babu, he is conducting research into the development of anode-free hybrid-ion capacitors.

  2. Poster prize for Urooj Fatima

    Our Ph.D. student Urooj Fatima received a poster award at the ISE conference in Mainz. As part of the High Power Symposium, she presented her work on new electrolytes for potassium-ion capacitors.

  3. ISE Conference in Mainz

    Several members of the Balducci Group attended the 76th International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE) Conference in Mainz. Many presentations were given, posters were presented, discussions were held, and connections were made.

  4. Dr. Binson Babu Research Stay (PECFAR fellowship)

    Dr. Binson Babu is visiting our institute as part of the Paired Early Career Fellowship in Applied Research (PECFAR). Together with Juanlu Gomez Urbano, he is conducting research into the development of anode-free hybrid ion capacitors.

  5. MUSIC project meeting in Tallinn

    The consortium involved in the European Materials for SUstainable Sodium-Ion Capacitors (MUSIC) project met at UP Catalyst in Tallinn for its 6th General Assembly to discuss results and next steps.

  6. German-French Summer Atelier in Jena

    In June, leading experts in the field of high-power devices gathered in Jena to discuss fundamentals and the latest research with interested PhD students from France and Germany as part of a summer school.
