World Capital Institute Executive Committee
At the General Assembly on 6 September 2022, Prof. Benno Werlen was appointed a member of the World Capital Institute Executive Committee.
The World Capital Institute (WCI) (https://worldcapitalinstitute.org) is an independent international think tank whose goal is to promote the understanding and application of knowledge as the strongest lever for development. It is headquartered in Querétaro, Mexico, and has a number of offices around the world.
The WCI focuses on five thematic programmes: knowledge-based development, knowledge cities, alternative economies, knowledge for the Anthropocene, and preparing cities for the climate crisis. The WCI promotes this through four main services and channels. In addition to publishing the Journal of Knowledge-Based Development and thematic anthologies, one of its main activities is providing and maintaining the global recognition platform for cities and regional knowledge clusters for the Most Admired Knowledge Cities (MAKCi) Award (https://worldcapitalinstitute.org/makci). Another outstanding event is the Knowledge Cities World Summit, the annual WCI conference, which has just taken place for the 15th consecutive year under the motto ‘Actionable Knowledge for the Anthropocene’.
