Meeting with the Taiwanese Minister of Education

On 18 September 2019, Benno Werlen was invited to the Ministry of Education of Taiwan in Taipei together with the Director of the Institute of Geography Prof. Su Shew-Jiuan (National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan), and the Head of the IYGU Regional Action Center for Taiwan, Prof. Wen-Chen Wang. In the discussion with the Minister of Education, Jiunn-Rong Yeh, the strategy for establishing a national curriculum "Global Understanding" for all levels of education up to vocational schools was outlined. The aim is to use the Taiwan project to develop a model example for the integration of "Global Understanding" into national education, art, and sustainability policy, which will be made usable for others.
